I think it was the cover art that put me off. Kenneth Branagh and Stanley Tucci in Nazi uniform? Sure, another cheapo holocaust melodrama with good actors reduced to growling stereotypes. Not.

What’s the matter with holocaust movies? In the 60 years since Auschwitz, what have we had? A cheesy TV melodrama (Holocaust), a lazy treatise on guilt and responsibility (Sophie’s Choice), and, of course, the definitive Spielberg version of events (Schindler’s List).
